A Hiouchi man was arrested Sunday after he produced a rifle in a quarrel with his neighbor, authorities said.

Jimmy D. Vincent, 50, approached his neighbor who was up on a ladder working on his residence in the Madrone Mobile Home Park around 5:52 p.m., said Diana Stanley, a spokesperson for the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office.

"He asked him to come to his trailer," said Stanley.

The neighbor, who told authorities he had been having issues with Vincent, refused the invitation and noted that Vincent appeared to be holding something behind his back, Stanley said.

"(Vincent) then pulled a rifle from behind his back," said Stanley.

The neighbor hopped off his ladder and ran into his trailer as Vincent pointed the gun at him, Stanley said.

The neighbor spied Vincent turning back toward his residence and then ran out, tackled him from behind, took away the rifle and went back into his trailer, Stanley said.

Authorities apprehended Vincent at a friend's house, Stanley said.

Vincent was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm, Stanley said.
