Another site cleaned up

The Take a Bite Out of Blight program volunteers from Our Daily Bread Ministries removed more than 4 tons of trash last week to assist a needy homeowner on Burtschell Street in Crescent City.

"Not one government dollar was spent to clean up this property," said county Supervisor Roger Gitlin, founder of the Take a Bite Out of Blight program, which is scheduled to clean up two more properties this week.

He credited Our Daily Bread's Director Mike Justice, Take a Bite out of Blight program coordinator Scott Scherer, Del Norte County Code Enforcement officer Dave Mason, and Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority program manager Tedd Ward.

The Take a Bite Out of Blight program assists poor, elderly and disabled homeowners who have been cited for code violations by the County Code Enforcement Department.
