Saturday altercation occurs near Highway 101 apartments
A local man spent the night in the hospital with stab wounds and a second was arrested after a Saturday night scuffle, authorities said.
Alberto Ramirez, 22, of Crescent City, was outside of a party held at the Totem Villa Apartments, 1085 U.S. Highway 101, when he heard a disturbance around 10 p.m., said Police Chief Doug Plack.
"Ramirez heard a disturbance a couple aparments down from his location and told the individual creating the disturbance to calm down," said Plack. "At that point a physical confrontation erupted."
Ramirez and a man later identified as Clyde F. Robinson, 26, of Crescent City, exchanged blows, Plack said.
Ramirez didn't realize he was bleeding from lacerations to the right side of his chest and top portion of his head until he knocked Robinson to the ground and noticed his shirt was wet, Plack said.
A woman who reported the crime was also wounded in the melee, Plack said.
The woman had tried to separate Ramirez and Robinson and was stabbed near her right armpit, causing an inch-deep puncture, Plack said.
She then called authorities, Plack said.
Ramirez was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital, where he spent the night and was released Sunday.
Authorities found a knife with about a 4-inch blade near the area of the scuffle, Plack said.
Robinson was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, battery with serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Police Department at 464-2133.
