A local man pleaded no contest to assault likely to cause great bodily injury about a month after he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Clyde F. Robinson, 26, of Crescent City, is scheduled to be sentenced in January as part of a plea deal in which he will face up to a year in jail.
He was no longer charged with attempted murder at the time of his plea entry, and has been released from jail until his sentencing.
Robinson and Alberto Ramirez, 22, of Crescent City got into a scuffle Sept. 14 at the Totem Villa Apartments, 1085 U.S. Highway 101, authorities said.
Robinson stabbed Ramirez on the right side of his chest with a 4-inch blade that was eventually found nearby, authorities said.
A woman who attempted to stop the fight was also stabbed near her right armpit, authorities said. She then notified authorities.
Ramirez was treated at Sutter Coast Hospital and released the following day.
