A Crescent City couple was startled on Wednesday morning when they discovered a burglar in their home.

Around 6:30 a.m., a man was discovered in a bedroom of a home on the 600 block of W. Macken Avenue by one of its residents, said sheriff's Commander Tim Athey.

When the resident confronted the man, he stated he was looking for a gun, Athey said.

Another resident then confronted the man and yelled at him to get out of her house, Athey said.

The man left, but was located by a sheriff's deputy down the street coming out of the backyard of another residence, Athey said.

Stolen items from the burglarized home were located when the deputy searched him, Athey said.

Corey L. Litz, 31, of Crescent City, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession marijuana.
