Sport docks, harbor audit on agenda

Adam Spencer, The Triplicate

Crescent City Harbor District officials said they lose money almost every year on the installation and maintenance of sport fishing docks in the outer boat basin in front of Chart Room restaurant.

Tonight, the Crescent City Harbor Commission will consider whether or not to install the temporary docks this year or to assign slips to recreational boats in the newly completed inner boat basin during the commission's regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Flynn Center, 981 H St.

The commission will also discuss the details of a March 22 ribbon-cutting party for that new $54 million inner boat basin, which was mostly paid for with state and federal emergency response dollars. The harbor took out a loan for $5.4 million to cover its contribution of the project.

The harbor's auditor will provide a presentation on the port's annual audit during tonight's meeting, and the commission will also discuss its preliminary budget for fiscal year 2014andndash;2015.
