March for Meals is a national campaign held during the month of March, initiated and sponsored by the Meals on Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities.

Hundreds of Senior Nutrition Programs in the United States, like the Del Norte Senior Center, promote March for Meals through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.

One year of Meals on Wheels costs the same as six days in a nursing home, or just one day in a hospital.

A recent study by the Center for Effective Government showed that for every $1 invested in Meals on Wheels, there is up to $50 in savings in Medicaid alone. Last year the Senior Center delivered 19,647 meals to homebound seniors in Del Norte County.

Join the Del Norte Senior Center in supporting the 12th annual March for Meals crusade in the month of March. Many of our seniors have been crocheting bracelets in honor of the crusade, which are available at the Senior Center for $2 each. For information or to donate call 464-5511.
