Local churches have plenty of special activities planned throughout weekend

Easter is almost here.

I understand it's supposed to be cloudy but not rainy. I hope that's really the way it will be because we have several Sunrise services scheduled tomorrow! Of course, it would also be nice if the sun came through those clouds. And why not? The weather man is often mistaken!

I really like these sunrise services and plan on going again this year. I had to miss last year because that bad hip would not let me get down to the beach where my church was holding the service. There's just something special about being down there in worship as the sun is coming up.

Sunrise services, special breakfasts and services Sunday will be at:

andbull; Community Sunrise service, 7:14 a.m., Cornerstone Church, sponsored by community churches, breakfast at 8:30 am.

andbull; Calvary Chapel of the Redwoods, 6 a.m. at mouth of the Smith River, breakfast at 7:30 a.m., service, 10 a.m.

andbull; Pelican Bay Evangelical Free Church, 7 a.m. in Virginia's Grove, breakfast at 8 a.m. at the church, second service at 10:30 a.m.

andbull; First Baptist Church, 7 a.m., breakfast at 8 a.m., worship service, 9:30 a.m.

andbull; New Life Community Church, 6:15 a.m. on beach by North Coast Marine Mammal Center, no breakfast this year, rather, a potluck following the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

andbull; Smith River United Methodist Church, 7 a.m. at mouth of the Smith River, followed by free breakfast at 8 a.m., service at 10 a.m.
