College grads get degrees, certificates on Friday

Sixty-five Del Norte students will receive degrees or certificates at College of the Redwoods' graduation at the Crescent City Cultural Center on Friday.

Anita Janis, director of the Del Norte Education Center, will deliver the opening address and introduction, according to a college press release. Professor Mark Renner and Associate Professor Sara Broderick will introduce the graduates.

Deanna Russell, an alumnus of the Del Norte campus, will be the commencement's main speakers. The students will receive their degrees or certificates from CR President Kathryn Smith and Rick Bennett, Del Norte's representative on the college Board of Trustees.

The Del Norte High School stage band will provide music during the ceremony. A reception will follow commencement.

CR's graduation will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at the Crescent City Cultural Center at 1001 Front Street.
