Markets in Gasquet and Klamath open

By Jessica Cejnar, The Del Norte Triplicate

While Crescent City's Wednesday and Saturday markets are already underway, Susan Stewart is getting ready for the first Gasquet farmers market of the season.

Stewart has previous experience managing the Downtown Crescent City Farmers and Artisans Market on Wednesday and, along with her husband, started the Saturday market 25 years ago. She said she started the Gasquet market after receiving numerous requests.

"The Gasquet community is a really tight-knit group," Stewart said. "We're proud of our community, and we all work together, and we're kind of like one big family."

The Gasquet market will feature organic produce from Sunnyvale, Ore., farm Promised Land as well as Ocean Air Farms. The market will also offer Avriel Skin Care products and plants and veggies from Gasquet farm Riverthyme.

The Gasquet Farmers and Artisans Market will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Gasquet Station next to She She's Diner on U.S. Highway 199.

Another market, the Klamath Pel-son Market, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Yurok Tribal Parking Lot at 190 Klamath Blvd. in Klamath.
