A Crescent City woman was killed in a three-vehicle wreck on Highway 199 on Friday afternoon.
Patti Haban, 79, of Crescent City, was driving east on Elk Valley Cross Road attempting to cross Highway 199 when her 1997 sedan was struck on the right side by a minivan carrying a family from Germany that was entering Highway 199 from northbound 101.
"The impact caused Ms. Haban's vehicle to be propelled into the front of (Robert) Larson's vehicle," which was stopped at the stop sign on the eastern side of the Elk Valley Cross Road and Highway 199 intersection, according to a report from California Highway Patrol.
"Haban was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital, where she later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision," according to CHP's report.
Holger Frech, 47; Julia Frech, 44, and their three children aged 7- to 12-years-old, of Bonn, Germany, were transported to Sutter Coast with minor injuries, while Larson was not injured in the crash.
Seat belts were worn by all parties involved and alcohol or drug use is not suspected to be involved, according to CHP.
