The Del Norte Resource Advisory Committee is seeking recommendations and applications for new members of the group, which advises how to spend federal money allocated to Del Norte County for loss of timber revenue.

"This is a unique opportunity to provide advice and recommendations on management activities on National Forest land in these counties," said Mike Minton, acting forest supervisor of Six Rivers National Forest.

A member's term is four years, and the number of meetings varies. There is no compensation for serving on the RAC, but members can be reimbursed for travel

"Del Norte RAC is looking for people with motivations and commitment to the long-term benefit of our national forest and who are also interested in working with a diverse array of interests represented in the committee," said a statement from Six Rivers National Forest.

Projects that the Del Norte RAC recommends include trail maintenance, road maintenance and storm-proofing, noxious weed control, fisheries monitoring and restoration, forest health improvement and reducing hazardous fuels. All projects must benefit National Forest lands.

The appointment of members to the RAC will be made by the Secretary of Agriculture. To be considered for membership, a nominee must be a resident of California. Nominees who served in the last SRS Authorization in 2008 are not eligible to serve.

Application packages should be submitted by Aug. 10 and should include: SRS RAC Membership Interest form, Completed Form AD-755 (Advisory Committee or Research and Promotion Background Information).

Mail or deliver nomination packets to: Six Rivers National Forest, Attn: Lynn Wright, 1330 Bayshore Way, Eureka, CA 95501. These forms can be found
