Del Norte Sheriff's Deputies responded to a seemingly routine report Tuesday of two subjects drinking in the Elk Valley Casino parking lot that ended with the arrest of two wanted men.
Deputies arrested William Thomas Lamebear, 33, and David Billy, 40, in the casino parking lot. Lamebear was wanted for a parole violation in Sacramento with an armed and dangerous warning, while Billy is a felon with an outstanding warrant in Humboldt County.
Deputies initially responded to a call about the two men drinking in the parking lot, Sheriff Dean Wilson said. Lamebear and Billy were acting nervous and suspiciously and provided false identification to the deputies, Wilson said.
Deputies found drugs on one of the suspects and were able to discover that the identification he had given them was a fake, Wilson said.
Then deputies searched the car, where they found 8.6 grams of methamphetamine, 1.2 grams of heroin, two loaded syringes, a hand gun and ammunition, Wilson said.
In addition to outstanding warrants, both men are being charged locally for providing false identification to a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia and felon in possession of a firearm.
