Chris Allen Wilkerson died in Crescent City on Oct. 28, 2008, after suffering for many years from complications of surgery in 2005.

Mr. Wilkerson was born June 24, 1954, in Long Beach. He grew up and lived most of his working life in Southern California. He worked as a newspaper pressman from the age of 15 until his retirement due to disability in 2003. Mr. Wilkerson moved to Del Norte County recently to be closer to his family and to enjoy the beautiful Smith River, where he had dreams of catching record salmon and steelhead with his son.

Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his mother Beverley, father Leonard, and brothers Leonard, George, and Larry.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of Crescent City, his son Chris and spouse Trina of Crescent City, his daughter Tracey and spouse Rick of North Bend, Ore., his stepdaughter Tara of Crescent City and his ex-wife Maureen of Crescent City, his brother Randy of Bellflower, his brother Steve of Yosemite, his sister Sandy of Paramount, his sister Carol of Moreno Valley, his sister-in-law Sharon of Yoncalla, Ore., his sister-in-law Carol of Las Vegas, many grandchildren including Wiley Cole, Seth Wilkerson, Weston Cole, Scotch Buck, Billie Jo Buck, Brenda Buck and Tori Wilkerson.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Wier's Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City.

Mr. Wilkerson preferred live plants and was known for his green thumb. Feel free to plant or donate a live plant in his memory.
