Minnie Spott Macomber
Minnie Spott Macomber, andquot;Auntie Minnie,andquot; passed away Aug. 8, 2008, at her home in Crescent City. She was 100 years old.
The dau-ghter of Alice Spott Taylor, was born May 6, 1908, in Requa. Raised in her Native Yurok Ways, she was mentor to many in regards to Yurok traditions, language, knowledge, life and love.
As a long-time resident of Del Norte County she was known for her hospitality, generosity, open home and her love of laughter. She loved the beaches, the rivers and driving in the mountains. She also enjoyed clamming, fishing, hunting, berry picking and just about anything to do outside.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Oscar of Crescent City, grandchildren Angel Morris, Edward Donahue and Raven Hopper; great- grandchildren Justin, Allissa, Alexis, Nicholas, Kyra, Seleste, Derrik, Roberta and Qasheen; daughter Mary and Sherman Jackson of Wasilla, Ark., grandchildren Jeremiah Jackson, Robert Jackson and Jonathon Jackson. great grandchildren Noemi, Jacob, Benjamin, Forrest and Ki-Kyah; son Frank and Dyeta Gist Jr. of Sacramento, grandchildren Naomi, Frank III, great grandchildren Veronica; nieces Alveretta Green, Crescent City, and Loretta Plum Cherolis, Klamath; and numerous other relatives and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie W. Macomber, brothers Lawrence Taylor, Edward Spott, and Arthur Spott, and sister Alice Lewis.
A family wake will be held at her home, 547 Joaquin St., Crescent City, at noon Sunday.
Services will be at the Yurok Tribal Office in Klamath at 1 p.m. Monday.
Graveside will be at the Spott Family Cemetery in Reqa. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
