June Blossom Stewart died April 9, 2008, at home, at the age of 90. She was born June 7, 1917, in Fortson, Wash., the third child of eight.

June retired to Brookings 30 years ago from Fullerton, Calif., and lived in Smith River for the past 20 years.

She was active in the art community as an avid painter. She was well known for her gifts of cut flowers from her garden, and fresh baked cookies.

Her children, Michael Miller of Smith River, and Karen Clark of Tucson, Ariz., and five of her siblings, including an older brother and sister, survive her.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Adam Clark.
