Obituaries: Jerry E. Emmick(1941-2008)

Jerry E. Emmick died April 11, 2008, in Crescent City. He was born on June 26, 1941, in Glendale, Ariz., where he was involved in his family's restaurant business.

He moved to Curry County, Ore., and the Del Norte County area around 1975. Jerry was a talented handyman and worked in many occupations including working at several of the many sawmills that once existed in the area. He loved the outdoors, gold mining, camping and inventing.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Evelyn Reichlin, his brother, Jim Emmick, and nephews and cousins.

Contributions may be made to the Rowdy Creek Fish Hatchery, P.O. Box 328, Smith River, CA 95567, in Jerry's memory.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
