Steve H. Maynard died on Feb. 1. He was born in Fairfield on Feb. 5, 1949, but spent most of his childhood in San Jose.

His summers were spent on the Klamath River where he fell in love with the Northern California coastline and developed life-long friends. Steve moved to Arcata to finish his college education at Humboldt State University, receiving a degree in bilingual science. After spending the next two years abroad, he returned to the San Francisco Bay area to work, but became restless. He took up truck driving and enjoyed seeing the country and also developing more friends.

Steve's hobby was restoring a vintage 1967 Pontiac GTO. No matter where Steve was in his travels, he always made sure to be home for the annual Crescent City Sea Cruise.

Survivors include his sister, Sharon Goodyear of Plymouth, Mass.; his brother Craig Maynard of Menlo Park; nieces and nephews; the love of his life, Donna Sanderson and many friends.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Crescent City. There will also be a celebration of life immediately following the service at the Lighthouse Inn.
