Caroline Kathlen Hare, 72, passed away Feb. 28, 2008, in Eureka. She was born Aug. 2, 1935, Seattle. Caroline had lived in Del Norte County for the past 43 years, 25 of those years spent working as a cook for Glen's Bakery.

Caroline enjoyed camping, cooking, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Gary McConkey and wife Rhonda of Eureka; Marlene Demaris and husband Ben of Crescent City; Kathy Borges and husband Norman of Delha; step-children Carol Brown and husband Stan of Medford, Ore.; Alice Baxter and husband Rick of Crescent City; Jerry Hare and wife Ruth of Crescent City, and Bob Hare and wife Diane of Medford; brothers Gerry Cummins and wife Jean of Tucson, Ariz., Walt Cummins and wife Dori of Texas; grandchildren Gary McConkey Jr. of Eureka; Jeannie Sherman and husband Wayland of Cave Junction, Ore.; Patrick McConkey and wife Kasey of Roseburg, Ore.; Patrick Demaris and wife Motoko of Japan; Benny Demaris and wife Brandy of Crescent City; Tom Demaris of Crescent City; Michael Demaris of Crescent City; Tiffany Gramrosa of Eureka; and Justin Gramrosa of Delha.

She was preceded in death by husbands Wilford McConkey and Alvin Hare.

Grave-side services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Del Norte County Veteran's Cemetery, Crescent City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City.
