Obituaries: Lewis Ervin Long(1945-2008)

Lewis Ervin Long, 62, died Feb. 25, 2008, in Crescent City. He was born Oct. 17, 1945 in Bremerton, Wash. He was a 13 year resident of Del Norte County.

Mr. Long served for 10 years active duty with the U.S. Navy on submarines during the Vietnam era. He spent 30 years on Mare Island servicing submarines. He was a big football fan and loved the Raiders. He will be remembered as a loving grandparent who was very involved in his grandchildren's lives.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Long of Crescent City; sons Brian Long of Coleville; Lewis Long of Fort Lauderdale, Fla; and Andrew Long of Crescent City; grandchildren Nathaniel, Kyle, Gannon, Conner, Kira and Dane; mother Winona Green of Washington; sisters Sherri Riehl of Washington and Shawn Chinn of Texas.

The family requests contributions be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteen St., Washington, D.C. 20006-3517

No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
