Diane Lora Larsen, 64, of Brookings, died Feb. 10, 2008 in Brookings of ovarian cancer. She was born April 14, 1943, in Chicago, with special needs due to albinism.

Her father was Frank Bianco. She was raised in a Catholic orphanage in Chicago. Following high school graduation, she met and married a husband in Chicago. Two children were born of the union, which ended in divorce.

In the early 1970s she moved to California. A third child was born while she lived in Mission Viejo. In 1987, Ms. Larsen moved to Brookings with her family. She was a member of the Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing, and was a regular at bingo in several local locations, including Smith River and Crescent City, where she made many friends.

She was also known for and generosity, and donated her time for the welfare of others, even while ill.

Survivors include her children, Linda L. Johnson and husband James, Deana Perkins, and Jason B. Avilez, all of Brookings; a sister, Linda Cataloni of Redding; three grandchildren, Jamie Serna, James Johnson III and Jacob Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Cayleen Wiley, Riley Serna, Aaliyah Johnson and Tyler Serna of Brookings.

She was preceded in death by her father. A celebration of life is pending.
