Mark Rainer Ottersbach, 46, of Mojave died August 23, 2007.

He was born Aug. 23, 1961 in Lynwood to Karl Ottersbach and Nan Marie Ottersbach Wineinger, and spent his early years in La Mirada.

At the age of 12, his family moved to Smith River, where he attended elementary and high school. He lived his entire life in California and especially enjoyed being and working in the woods.

He was known for his laughter, humor, persistence and his mischievousness. He was a collector of many things and would often be seen wearing one of his collection of hats.

He is survived by his mother, Nan Marie Wineinger, and his stepfather, Raymond D. Wineinger of Smith River; his brother Kristian James Ottersbach of Smith River, his nephews, Kristian James Ottersbach II and Justin Rainer Ottersbach of Crescent City and his uncle, James Raymond Price of Vacaville.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Heidi Francess Ottersbach, Smith River; his father, Karl Ottersbach, Hacienda Heights; his grandparents Raymond and Francess (Dollie) Price, South Gate, and Karl and Maria Ottersbach of Derschlag, Germany.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wier's Mortuary Chapel, 408 G Street.

The graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at Smith River Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a gathering after the service at the new Howonquet Community Center on South Indian Road next to the Indian Health Center.
