Barbara Patricia Stanton was born in January 1962 in Long Beach, and her family moved to Shell Beach in 1969. She passed away the morning of August 23, 2007. She had a long and courageous fight with the terrible disease, scleroderma.
Barbara was a very talented musician. She played many instruments, but was born to play the clarinet. She achieved many honors and played with the San Luis Symphony for many years.
Barbara graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1979, then went on to Cal Poly to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree and her teaching credential. She began her career at age 22 at Ocean View Elementary School, and worked there for 20 years, where she found her love teaching kindergarten. The staff was energetic, loving and supportive. Barbara touched hearts and inspired many young lives, but her greatest personal accomplishments were her two children Sarah Nicholle and Jarrod Dylan.
Barbara always had a smile that would light up a room and brighten your day.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter, Sarah; son, Jarrod; parents, Jon and Linnie Winter; sister, Ingrid Moon; brother-in-law, Forrest Stanton; sister-in-law, Sheila Stanton; nephew, Eric Moon; nieces Krissa and Karah Stanton; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends in the United States and Holland.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on August 25, 2007, at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery with a reception gathering at the Portugese Hall in Arroyo Grande.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Barbara Stanton Memorial fund at any Mid-State Bank andamp; Trust/Robobank location.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lady Family Mortuary in Arroyo Grande.
