Grant Michael Newton, 28, died following a hit and run automobile accident in Crescent City Aug. 2, 2007.

He was born Oct. 19, 1978 in Napa and moved to Crescent City in July 2001.

He was friendly and outgoing, and had many friends in the community. He had plans of opening a dance club with his long-time friend Rollie Gippert. He was an avid fan of professional wrestling and one of his favorite TV shows was the Iron Chef on the Food Network. He was a big movie fan with an extensive DVD collection. He was always the center of things and could elicit laughter from all who knew him.

Grant is survived by his parents, Patricia Estersohn and Paul Newton; his brother, Nickolas Newton, all of Crescent City; and his half-brother, Joseph Newton of Napa.

He is also survived by his grandmothers, Louise Danley and Dolores French of Napa, his uncles, Michael French (Katy) of Sunnyvale, uncle Glenn Danley (Leslie) of Roseville, and uncle Denys Danley of Winnemucca, Nev., and by his aunt Marsha Danley of Napa.

A memorial service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at Wier's Mortuary and Chapel.
