Billie Barbara Reid died on March 1, 2014, at her family home in Fork Dick, Calif. Billie was born in Westfir, Ore., to William and Margaret. Billie lived in Eugene, Ore., until 1955 when she moved to Crescent City, where she met and married the love of her life, Cliff Reid.
She worked as a telephone operator and a phone store manager until the mid-1970s. Billie took an early retirement; however, within a few years boredom set in and she took a job at the Del Norte County Country Club, saying, "It's the only way I can spend quality time with my husband."
Billie was a quick-witted and very caring person. She loved spending time in a garden, playing Scrabble with her kids, spoiling her grandchildren and sitting on the bench with Dad after a long day. Billie will be sorely missed by all of those who knew her.
Billie was preceded in death by her son Robert Reid in 1970, beloved husband Cliff Reid in 2000 and daughter Nancy Nichols in 2010.
She is leaving behind her son Tom Morgan of La Pine, Ore.; her daughter Sandara Kohl of Patterson, Calif.; grandchildren Michael Coulombe Lutz, Florida, and Richard Morgan of Salem, Ore.; granddaughters Autumn Morgan of Molalla, Ore.; Lacey Kohl of Syracuse, N.Y., and Brayona Kohl of Patterson, Calif. Also adopted children Jewels Wheat and her four children, Andrea Marlin, Andrew Marlin, Nikolas Reid and Ariah Reid.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Del Norte County Animal Control, 2650 Washington Blvd., Crescent City, CA 95531.
A potluck wake will be held at the family residence, 124 Hillcrest Lane, Crescent City, on Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
