Historywas made today when we published the all-new Daily Triplicate classified pages. What you see in today's newspaperisthe culmination of years of strategic planning, months of design work and countless hours of discussion. Our goal has always been thesame:To better serve ourcustomers. We've anticipated this change for a long time. Today we pulled the plug onan old, tired classified system andleapt into the 21st century.

We've increased the type size and the space between the lines for easier readability. This baby boomer, for one, felt that we needed a bigger type size. The larger size and style we've selected will make reading the classifieds easier. The andquot;negative indentandquot; and the lines separating the columns were deliberate enhancements made with the reader in mind.

The renowned social scientist Marshall McLuhan said, andquot;Advertising is the greatest art form of the twentieth century.andquot; For our advertising customers, we now offer many more options for the look of your ad. You have ways to be more creative and artistic so your ad will stand out and get the desired results.

We've worked closely with our sister newspaper, the Curry Coastal Pilot in Brookings, because so many of our readers and advertisers overlap. Beginning today, you'll be able to place classified ads into either paper at either paper and receive just one bill. If you're selling your car, for example, you wouldn't mind selling it to someone in Brookings, would you? Or if you're selling your boat, same thing.

We've created economical combination packagesthat include both newspapers in both counties. When you use them, you'll double your potential buyers. If you're a looker and not a seller, you'll have greater selection now as more items from people in Curry County are advertised for sale in the Triplicate.

There's a free category for items priced below $50.andquot;Bargain Cornerandquot; ads will appear in both newspapers for one week (five days in the Triplicate and two days in the Pilot) at no charge to private parties. This will help you get rid of unwanted items, make a few bucks and recycle what you don't need. Remember, your junk could be someone else's treasure.

Starting with statements mailed in November, our business customers will receive just one statement for all advertising, including display and classified. Private party customers will receive a post card bill within a week after the ad has stopped.

This past weekend, 20 people from both the Pilot and the Triplicate transferred the data from our old classified system into the brand new one. We are confidant that it's all where it should be, but when you're touching hundreds of files, there could be glitches. If you are a customer with an ad currently running in the newspaper, please take a look today to make sure your ad is where it should be and that it's correct. If you have a problem or question, call us at 464-2141. We have doubled the number of classified work stations and classifiedsales reps in order to give you better customer service.
