Annual fire fee is irresponsible, economically devastating
The $150 State Responsibility Area annual fire fee now being levied against rural communities throughout California is the most asinine, irresponsible and economically devastating attempt to balance the cooked books in California.
Who in their right mind would believe the inhabitants of these rural areas, mostly low and fixed incomes and our senior citizens on social security, even have the funds to pay such a huge annual bill? Our elected officials in Sacramento, that's who. Assembly Member Wesley Chesbro of District 1 has introduced SB-1040 to repeal this fiasco. At least there is someone using common sense. Let's see if there is anyone else in Sacramento who can.
This was never placed before California voters. It was done behind closed doors and originally misrepresented to supposedly not affect communities with volunteer or organized fire protection districts. Sounds a lot like the cause and effects of Obamacare on Medicare.
When I called the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, I was told that no new services would be provided, they would not be available 24/7 or 365 days a year or even respond to residential fires - that would be the duty of the local volunteer fire departments if they had one.Our local fire protection districts actually respond to structure fires, EMT first responder calls and grass fires. So why are we being forced to pay more for no additional service that isn't even available 365 days a year, 24/7?
Additionally. if this legislation stands, it will financially starve our local fire protection districts. Any future campaigns by those fire protection districts, seeking a modest benefit assessment increases affixed to property taxes, will fail, not due to a lack of support for these districtsm, but due to sheer economics.
Call or fax your concerns to Assemblyperson Wesley Chesbro at (707) 445-7014/fax: (707) 445-6607.Tell Sacramento that it has lost its mind thinking it can balance its state budget hemorrhaging red ink with the low and fixed income citizenry.
McClure not listening to both sides in fluoridation debate
My City Council representative is Donna Westfall. My county supervisor is Martha McClure. While Westfall is very responsive to returning my phone calls and e-mails, and seeking and sharing information on my behalf, McClure is not.
Recently I asked Donna Westfall to get together with McClure to make sure she understood the hazards to my health by keeping fluoride in our drinking water. I was told that McClure will not meet face-to-face with Westfall, will not return phone calls or e-mails because Westfall isn't her constituent.
While Westfall is concerned with my health, I assume McClure is not. Westfall knows that 10 people in my family suffer with kidney disease. Westfall understands that we should not be forced to consume this poison called fluoride. We have no choice in the matter because 137 more uneducated, ignorant people voted last time to keep it in and to keep poisoning me.
McClure prides herself on doing her homework. As far as I'm concerned, she gets an "F" when it comes to coming out and standing up for those of us who are sick and tired of this undemocratic, un-American forced medication program that is making us sick.
By the way, children get cavities from too much fluoridation. So stop all the lies about, "It's for the children." It's not. It never has been. It's all about the money.
When are the people we vote into office going to start caring what is good for we the people and not what is financial gain for them? It is time for them to wake up and smell the coffee.
