It's all over and done for another year.
My biggest regret is that we have to pack away all that beautiful music! And, of course, all those lights and decorations that are so pretty - but it's the music that stays with me. But as fast as time seems to fly anymore, before we know it Christmas will be back again!
In the meantime, I'll get back to writing, and hopefully, my book will become a reality. Two chapters isn't much, but it is a beginning. Funny, though, how despite my outline, the story seems to take on a life of it's own, changing direction, and the importance of various characters. I think this is going to be a very interesting journey!
Just a few things this coming week - but that's usual for right after the holidays. Everyone is catching his or her breath from all the running, and, I suspect, we're all trying to rebalance those budgets we stretched.
andbull; Depression can set in for some folks following the holidays, and the Seventh-day Adventist church is again bringing you the opportunity to attend Dr. Neil Nedley's seminar on how to deal with it.
The seminar is a once-weekly event that goes for eight weeks, presenting a number of ways to understand and cope with the problem.
A free introductory DVD will be shown Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the church, 1770 Northcrest Drive. Designed to help people decide if the program is for them, it brings a lot of useful information.
If you decide it would be helpful to attend, Dr. Nedley's book, as well as a workbook and some others, will be available for $89. Further information is available by calling 464-2738.
andbull; The Ladies Christian Fellowship will meet Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Center of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Local vocalist Naomi Mitchell will bring special music, but the speaker is still a question at this point.
The group will be discussing and voting on its 2014 mission project. Each year, the group selects one or more organizations to support for the year. Last year it was Team Redwood and Reach Out Ministries, and the group has helped the Pregnancy Care Center in the past.
Come help celebrate the new year with good fellowship. All women are welcome, and the group is non-denominational. Lunch is catered by Northwoods at a cost of $10, or $3 if you will just be having coffee.
Reservations are needed to order the correct amount of food. To make reservations, or for more information, call Liz at 464-3539.
andbull; For Temple Beth Shalom, the class on the 613 commandments will continue today at 10 a.m. at the Curry Coastal Pilot building in Brookings. Use the big red doors at the rear of the building.
