FERNDALE The Del Norte High boys tennis team earned its first win of the season against Ferndale on the road Thursday.

The Warriors took down the Wildcats 5-4 after losing their first match of the season at home on Tuesday 9-0 against Arcata,

No. 1 Blake Polidore of Del Norte downed Jimmie Griggs 6-4, 6-2. No. 2 David Standring downed Eli Aurnee 6-2,6-3. The No. 3 for the Warriors, Joel Bruhns, lost to Trevor Nesvold 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.

No. 4 Tyler Pitman lost to Zach Leonardi of Ferndale 6-2, 6-1. Brandon Ford of Del Norte won the No. 5 match, defeating Corey Forsell 6-1, 6-3. No 6 Trevor Nimrod fell to Nate Coppini 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles action, Polidore and Standring won 8-4 and Bruhns and Pitman earned a 8-0 win. Ford and Chris Sanchez lost to Ferndale 8-6. In an extra singles match, which did not count towards the team win total, Sanchez downed Kristy Hindley 6-2, 6-0. On Saturday, the Warriors face McKinleyville on the road.
