FORTUNA The Del Norte High girls basketball team fell 45-35 to Freedom High of Oakley Saturday at the Yvonne Rocha Tournament in Fortuna.

The Warriors lost 52-29 to Anderson on Thursday and defeated Middletown 54-31 on Friday. The team is 2-4 for the season.

The Warriors fell behind 32-16 at the half to Freedom ,and shot poorly from the free throw line, going 0-for-15 until the fourth quarter. For the game, the Warriors went 5-for- 21 from the free throw line.

Head coach Buzz McCulloch said the team played better in the second-half, getting the lead down to five in the fourth before Freedom pulled away for the win.

McCulloch said poor free throw shooting, turnovers and missing easy shots consistently has hurt his team so far this season.

Junior Michelle Stacey led Warrior scorers with 14 points, while sophomore Lauryn Lesina had 11 and Baille McCulloch chipped in six. McCulloch was also named to the all-tournament team. Del Norte travels to Ferndale tonight to play a game at 7:30 p.m. The junior varsity team plays at 5:30 p.m. Starting on Thursday, the team will take part in a three-day tournament in Mount Shasta.
