Del Norte soccer teams lose over the weekend

The Del Norte High boys and girls soccer teams fell to Eureka on the road in Big 5 Conference action on Saturday.

The girls lost to the Loggers 5-1. The lone goal by the Warriors was scored by senior Brittni Scott, who was assisted by Alyssa Eiserich.

Head coach Clar Byers said the score was not indicative of the good gameespecially on defensethat Del Norte played. He commended defenders Amanda Navarro and Lauren Byers and Goalie Michelle Stacey for doing a good job.

In boys' action, the Warriors lost 3-0. Coach Ademona Animashaun said the Loggers were able to capitalize on scoring chances in the first half to take the 3-0 lead. He commended the team for playing well in the second half and keeping Eureka from scoring. Animashaun has been helping coach the team while the head coach is out of town.
