Warrior junior varsityteam falls to Panthers

The Del Norte High Junior Varsity football team fell to McKinleyville on the road Friday night 14-7. Despite the loss, head coach Steve Luis said he was proud of the way his team played. andquot;We played great,andquot; he said. andquot;They came down to play a football game.andquot; The squad played tough against a good team, he said. The Warriors were down 14-7 and driving down the field when the ball was intercepted with about six minutes left in the game. Del Norte scored when Greg Kirby ran the ball 15-yards for the touchdown. Luis commended the offensive line for doing a good job of opening up a hole for Kirby. He added that his defense did a nice job holding the Panthers for the majority of the game The Warriors are 1-1-1 for the year and next play Fortuna on the road next Friday.
