The Del Norte High girls varsity volleyball team continued its strong early season start Thursday evening, dispatching Hidden Valley, Ore., at home 25-20, 26-24, and 25-17.

The win improves the Warriors to 4-1 for the year.

At a tournament in Yreka a few weeks back, Del Norte played Hidden Valley and lost to them in two matches.

The game did not count toward the regular season record. The Mustangs were the winners of the 10-team tournament.

andquot;It was nice,andquot; head coach Meagan Curtis said about the home win. andquot;I felt like we were a different team. We were much more consistent than when we met in the tournament.andquot;

Curtis said the team did a better job passing the ball to one another and hitting, while keeping Hidden Valley out of their flow.

She was pleased with the way the girls were able to take out the Mustangs in three games and not have to worry about playing additonal matches.

Throughout the evening, the Warriors seemed to be in control. Even when they were down, they found a way to come back with a vengeance.

In the third and final game, Del Norte found itself down 5-12 and were able to come back strong and tie the contest at 16-16. The Warriors scored the next eight straight points on the way to the eventual 25-17 victory.

For the game, Del Notre recorded an exceptional 53 digs, with Tabitha Hillman recording 20 digs.

Ashley Owen had nine kills, while Lisa Daniels had six. Kaylie Rook had nine blocks, seven of them for kills. Deja Hartwick had 21 assists and Jessica Morrow recorded three aces.

Del Norte does not have much time to prepare for its next games. Today, the Warriors travel to Red Bluff to play in a two-day tournament.

which will begin this afternoon.
