ord and his team place

first at Shasta Speedway

Howard Ford of Crescent City and his Rumiano Racing crew won the North State Challenge Series at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson on Saturday, giving him his second win of the season and increasing his first place lead in the standings. Ford was able to win despite a major challenge. He was forced to the pits at one point to repair body damage after contact on lap 12 while running 6th. Ford rubbed wheels with another car, launching his car into the air, making the bottom of the car visible from the grandstands. Fortunately it landed with the rubber side down and most of the damage was cosmetic. His crew was able to rip off the dragging sheet metal and sent him back out, at the back of the twenty-car field. Ford was able to move his way through the field of other cars and took the lead on the 57th lap and was never challenged for the lead. The scheduled 100-lap race was cut short by curfew on the 73rd lap and Ford took the checkered flag and the $2,000 winner's share of the purse. Ford and his crew will next be racing on June 23 at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka.
