Briefs: Del Norte baseball team plays scrimmage game

The Del Norte High varsity baseball team traveled to St. Bernard's in Eureka Thursday for a scrimmage match. Head coach Pablo Lorenzi said the game was designed as a way to better evaluate the team and give all the players playing time. The entire roster of 18 boys was able to get into the game. The team played eight innings, with no score taken. Lorenzi said the scrimmage gave him a chance to try players at different positions and to see what the team is doing well and what needs work. The Warriors are tentatively scheduled to play North Valley, Ore., at home on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Originally, the game was to be played on the road, but was recently changed.
