The Del Norte boys tennis team had a strong showing Thursday afternoon, defeating McKinleyville 8-1 on the road.

The teams only loss came during doubles play. The win puts Del Norte at 7-4 for the year.

The victory was bittersweet, as it was the last game for Chad Richins.

Today, he's moving with his family to Colorado.

The Warriors No.1 player, Blake Polidore, was able to gain the victory against Steve Luther 6-1, 7-5.

David Standring handled Derrick Carbiener 6-3, 6-3.

Ben Tell of Del Norte defeated Brian Middaugh 6-1, 6-2.

Warrior Tyler Pitman was able to win a tight match against Yaad Rana 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6).

In his final match, Richins gained the win against Peter Manson 6-1, 6-2.

Del Norte player Joel Bruhns triumphed over Logan Coe 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles play, Polidore and Standring got the victory 8-6 over Luther and Carbiener.

Tell and Pitman fell to Middaugh and Rana 9-7.

Richins and Bruhns defeated Manson and Daniel Fiecco 8-3.

The loss dropped McKinleyville to 2-9 for the year.

Del Norte next plays on Saturday at home. The team will face St. Bernard's at 10 a.m.
