The Del Norte High boys tennis team earned an important victory on the road against conference rival Eureka on Thursday, winning 7-2. The team had lost its two previous matches at home to Fortuna and McKinleyville. In the first match, Blake Polidore of Del Norte defeated Fernando Salmeron 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. In the second match, Warrior David Standring won against Kyle Carbis 6-2, 6-0. Ben Tell of Del Nortre won his match to Hector Ramirez 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5). Tyler Pitman lost to Vince DeGraff 6-4, 7-5. Chad Richins defeated Steve Hare 6-0, 6-0, while fellow Warrior Joel Bruhns won against Jesse Carpenter 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, Polidore and Standring won against Carbis and DeGraff 8-5. Tell and Pitman fell to Carpenter and Salmeron 5-8. Richins and Bruhns won their match against Chris Hanes and Anthony Baker 8-5. The team next plays on Saturday at South Fork.
