Looks like all that practice is paying off for the Del Norte High boys tennis team.

The sun shone on the home courts Thursday as the Warriors walloped Fortuna, winning 6-3 in the fifth match of the season.

It would have been the team's 12th match if rain hadn't washed out much of the schedule and kept the Warriors inside, honing their skills.

Senior Jesse Lee used the extra practice time to work out a new serve, said Coach Sara Miller.

Lee won both of his sets Thursday, 6-3; 7-5.

"His strokes were just right on. I thought he was moving better on the court than in the beginning of the season," Miller said.

Senior Jack Chen also delivered an improved performance, said Miller.

He completely shut out his opponent in one of the two sets that he won.

"He was really powering the ball very nicely," said Miller.
