Two area teams play in Kyle Singler Open

Two middle-school basketball teams from Crescent City competed in the sixth annual Kyle Singler Southern Oregon Open basketball tournament in Medford, Ore. on May 12andndash;13.

Eric's All-Stars, a seventh-grade boys team, made it to the semifinals in a 16-team division. Team members include Parker Thompson, Lucas Murphy, Dawson Tweed, Jackson Bruder, Dayton Skeen, Nathan Wells, Chee Shorty and Nigel Hintz. The team was named after the late Eric Epperson, who taught physical education at Crescent Elk Middle School before passing away on April 5. The team was coached by Pete Blancarte and John Horner.

The Nor-Cal All-Stars, a sixth-grade girls' team, won two games and lost one in their respective division. Team members include Tvshiina Jacobs, Shelby Horner, Tayler Melton, Tamesha Jordan, Antonia Acala, Claire Smith, Josey Carlson, Payton Healy and Haley Hanover.
