Promote Our Pool Foundation event gains participation and support in its second year

The Promote Our Pool Foundation's Run for the Pool event is staking its claim as an annual tradition in Crescent City, for the benefit of runners, walkers, swimmers and others.

Approximately 135 children and adults ran or walked as far as 10,000 meters or as little as half a mile from Fred Endert Municipal Pool and Beachfront Park in the fundraising event for Endert Pool. Participants also had the choice of covering one mile, two miles or 5,000 meters in showing their support.

Exact figures were not available at press time, but Promote Our Pool president Susan Roberts told the Triplicate that at least $1,590 was raised to cover swim lesson scholarships, operational expenses and miscellaneous expenses.

The California Endowment offered additional financial support for the event.

Redwood Elementary School track coach Scott Lindsay supervised the running events.
