Girls soccer falls 1-0 to South Fork

The Del Norte High girls lost a hard-fought game against South Fork 1-0 at home Wednesday.

The Warriors controlled the ball and were able to pressure the South Fork defense for much of the game, especially early.

"We were pressuring them constantly in the first half, we got it into the gaps, but our forwards couldn't pick it up in time," said Del Norte coach Clar Byers.

South Fork's defensive formation made it difficult for Del No rte to get clean looks at the goal.

"They had five backs with a stopper clear in the back," Byers said. "Basically anything that we were getting through, their stopper would pick up and send it back."

South Fork took advantage of a downed Del Norte defender in the 50th minute to score the game's only goal.

The Warriors host Fortuna on Saturday.
