Del Norte's Sierra Fitzhugh tied her personal-best score of 94 at Bigfoot Golf Course in Willow Creek to finish fourth in a Tuesday meet. The round secured her spot as the fifth-best golfer in the Humboldt-Del Norte Big 5 league as the regular season comes to a close.

Gina Danna also shot a personal best round of 124 in Willow Creek, finishing 12th overall. She finished the season as the 17th best individual in the league in her first year golfing.

"I am really proud of the girls," said coach Alison Eckart. "I was glad to see Gina Danna come up and play well as a rookie."

With the regular season at a close, Eckart is already looking forward to next season. Both Fitzhugh and Danna are sophomores and have a couple years of eligibility remaining.

"With such a young team, I am really looking forward to the future," Eckart said. "I think we can be a real force. I am really hoping that we can get a few more people out for the team next year."

Fitzhugh has one more golf meet this year. She will compete as Del Norte's representative at the North Coast Section Division II Tournament of Champions.

Fitzhugh will compete against the top golfer from each of the North Coast schools with less than 1,000 students enrolled.
