The Del Norte girls soccer team got steamrolled on the road in a 13-0 loss in Arcata on Wednesday.

Arcata is one of the top teams in the Humboldt-Del Norte Big 5 league, but Warrior head coach Clar Byers thought his team should have had a better showing against the Tigers.

"I think the girls showed up defeating themselves already," Byers said. "I think they had notions that they were going to lose anyway, and they just didn't bring their A game out here today."

Arcata jumped all over Del Norte with eight first-half goals and added five more in the second half.

The game was the Warriors' last league game of the season. Del Norte will play one more game, however.

The Warriors tacked one more non-league game onto the end of their season. They will take on Brookings at home today, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Del Norte traveled to Brookings on Oct. 12 and lost 2-0. Byers is hoping that they will be able to even the score today.

"After getting a shellacking like this, our team should be kind of pumped," he said.
