Youth wrestling at Hoopa tourney

The Del Norte youth wrestling club took a trip down to Hoopa on Saturday for their second-to-last meet of the season. There were no team scores in Hoopa, but the Warriors did have 11 of the 13 wrestlers competing finish in the top three.

Nearly half of the Warriors that wrestled ended up winning their age and weight group. Ta Tes Boubly, 14; Josh Eneim, 6; Eddie Hartwick, 9; Conner Long, 12; Robert Reyes-Villegas, 5 and Colton Schaad, 6, all finished in first place.

Brandon Charles, 10; James Gensaw, 7; Soren Lewis, 7 and Zane Ridenour all came in second overall.

Uthana Reyes-Villegas finished in third place.

Del Norte Youth wrestling will be in McKinleyville today for the REWA Championship tournament. It will be the last tournament of the season as a team for the Del Norte Youth Wrestling Club.
