Track and Field at Redwood Empire

The Del Norte boys and girls track teams are sending their top athletes to Santa Rosa today for the North Coast Section Redwood Empire meet.

The Warriors are sending 14 girls and 15 boys to compet in a total of 53 events at the meet.

Hunter safety classes set for June, August

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will be offering hunter education and safety classes scheduled to take place June 16-19 and 22. Another class is scheduled to take place August 11-14 and 16.

The first four classes will be held at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds. The final class will be held at the Del Norte Rod and Gun Club in Smith River.

Del Norte Youth Soccer registration open

The Del Norte Youth Soccer Association is accepting registrations for the 2014 season. Boys and girls, ages 4 to 14 by July 31, are invited to sign up at Joe Hamilton School on Wednesday, May 28, from 6-8 p.m. or on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The registration cost of $65 will cover uniforms, insurance and trophies. There will be a late fee of $25 for anyone who signs up after June 1.
