Six teams, 67 players participate in annual one-pitch tournament

The Del Norte Recreation Department hosted its first of three slowpitch tournaments at Pykes Field over the weekend, drawing in six teams and 67 players. The teams all played one another in a round-robin on Saturday to set up the seeding for the double-elimination bracket.

This year's champion Liquor Box, a team made up mostly of players from Medford with a couple of Del Norters as well, was a perfect 9-0 throughout the course of the tournament.

Liquor Box shortstop Ryan Decker was named the MVP of the tournament, while Chad Walker was the batting champion. Justin Rofferty, Eli Farrar and Tressen Smith were all named to the all-tournament team.

The Rez Boys finished in second place overall. J.R. Richards earned the Gold Glove for his performance in the field throughout the tournament. Layton O'Reilley, Josh Ritter and Preston Rafalowski were named to the all-tournament team.
