DNACA Performance Series pre-sale season tickets
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness has limited quantities of pre-sale season tickets available. These pre-sale season tickets will be available until the 2017-18 season lineup is announced or until they sell out. They provide not only a discount to individual performances, but also to regular season tickets and just like regular season tickets, they are transferable and will be replaced if lost. They will be available in Crescent City at Del Norte Office Supply at 240 I St and at Live From Downtown’s First Friday from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 4, and in Brookings at Wright’s Custom Framing and Creative Arts at 810 Chetco Ave. General tickets are $65, Senior (65 and older) are $50, Student (K-College full-time) are $40, and Family (2 general and 2 other) are $150. Drum circle for veterans and families
DNACA will host a free-of-charge hour-long drum circle for veterans and their family members with local teaching artist and Vietnam veteran Mombo Hernandez from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Hall at 810 H St. This will be the first of six for the year. DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program is funded in part through Veterans Initiative in the Arts, a program of the California Arts Council, a state agency. DNACA’s exhibit at Del Norte County Fair
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness will hang an exhibit in the floral building at the Del Norte County Fair Aug. 3-6 titled “Celebrating the Creative Arts of Veterans and Their Families” with a finger food reception at 12:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 4 including Families” with a finger food reception at 12:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 4 including guitar played by the class’ current students. Art in Public Places
DNACA’s Art in Public Places in the Del Norte County Courthouse is a show titled “Having Fun from the Desert to Crescent City,” a collection of photography by Smokey Bill Harper. It will be available for viewing through August 10. The courthouse is located at 450 H Street in Crescent City, and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays. Crescent Harbor Gallery activities
Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery’s Artist of the Month for July is Bonnie Ross with a collection of her acrylic on plywood. August’s Artist of the Month will be Jenny Bayon, showcasing her paintings in acrylics. July’s demo will take place at noon today with Sara Dee Broderick painting wild animals in acrylic. Audi Stanton will lead August’s demo at noon August 24. The demos will be preceded by a finger food potluck. Bring a dish to share and some friends. Artists are invited to enter CRAA’s 2017 Juried Art Competition with two-dimensional art, excluding film or digital photography, completed within the past two years. Artists may enter up to three works for a $20 nonrefundable entry fee each. Entry forms and fees must be postmarked no later than August 15 or delivered to the Crescent Harbor Gallery at 140 Marine Way. California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd Street Gallery’s Artist of the Month for July is William Sanchez with his photography. A sampling of his work will be on display at 1228 2nd St. August’s Artist of the Month will be Linda Elmore with a collection of her watercolor. The gallery has also expanded their reach to various locations throughout Crescent City. The Del Norte County Public Library at 1080 Mason Mall has hung an exhibit including works by Richard Wardlaw and Tanya Winston that will be available for viewing through August 1. Florence Keller originals are on display through September 1 in the main hallway of Sutter Coast Hospital at 800 E Washington Blvd. Wild Rivers Community Foundation at 900 Front St will display originals by Carol Long through October 1. Become a member of the gallery and spend Saturday afternoons painting and networking from 1-3 p.m. Art classes for children take place on Saturday mornings. The Brian Scott Gallery at 515 Chetco Ave in Brookings will hold its Happy Hour, Artistic License, hosted by Angela Ewing from 4:45-6 p.m. tomorrow.
