The blackberries are ripe and ready for picking.
Lots of water last winter made for some mighty fine tasting berries at the ninth-annual Berry Festival Sunday at Klamath’s Camper Corral, 18151 U.S. 101, Klamath.
The festival will feature live music by Rumblestrip with special guests including a member of Patchy Fog and Drizzle, the Mud Sharks, LSB Project and Eastridge and Friends. Blueberry pancakes will be prepared by friends of Camper Corral and will be served from 9 a.m. until they’re gone.
The Klamath Chamber of Commerce and the Crescent Harbor Art Gallery will host a Super Silent Auction in the barn. These items make wonderful gifts like a night’s stay at a suite beside the beautiful Klamath River or awe-inspiring paintings by local artists.
These are only some of the many items in the auction. Come join the fun and meet some of these talented artist demonstrating their skills. Bidding opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m.
Sign up early for the family Berry Picking Contest, which begins at noon and the Chef Competition after the berries have been picked. The Department of Health and Human Services supplies the fixin’s for the recipes. Prizes are awarded to lucky winners that participate.
Children’s performances begin at 1:30 p.m. starting with “Ballet de la Paloma.”
Throughout the day not only will we’ll have live music and entertainment, but also a dessert contest, the Wonder Bus, art activities, games and the Home Depot Kids Workshop. This year Home Depot is offering an adult workshop in the afternoon.
Artisans, crafters and bakers will have unique handmade gifts along with plenty of blackberry pies, jams and cobblers for purchase — this is a great time and place to purchase Christmas gifts.
Last year’s vendors raffle was so much fun and a huge success we just have to do it again. For every dollar spent with our participating vendors the customer will receive tickets into the raffle; i.e. you spend $10, you get 10 tickets. Supporting our vendors is the only way to get tickets into this special raffle.
Raffle drawings begin at noon. If there are any unclaimed prizes by 3 p.m., we will pull more tickets until all the prizes have been claimed.
From 4 p.m.-7 p.m. we’ll have an afterhours party with a quaint musical setting. Wine and beer will be available at that time. Vendors are welcome to stay set up or just kick back and relax after a great day of sales.
