Art Festival continues today
Crescent Harbor Gallery’s annual Fourth of July Art Festival continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the Crescent City Cultural Center.
Local and regional artists include painters, photographers, quilters, jewelers, wood carvers and more.
This is the largest art fair held each year in Del Norte County, and is free to the public. For more information, call 464-9133.
LRT’s Melodrama concludes today
Lighthouse Repertory Theatre's annual melodrama, “The Huckleberry Plot, or From Snakes Preserve Us!” by playwright Sherrell L. Davis, concludes with shows at 1 and 4 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church, 664 H St.
Come boo and hiss at the villain, cheer the hero and enjoy no-host popcorn and soft drinks.

Gallery’s artist of the month
Maritime painter Gene Olson is July's artist of the month at Crescent Harbor Gallery.
This former Del Norte County resident placed 10th in a national maritime art competition, and has exhibited at the Columbia River Maritime and Coos Bay Art museums.
A sampling of Olson’s pieces is available for viewing at 140 Marine Way, along with works by other members of the Coast Redwoods Art Association. For more information, call 464-9133.
Art prospectuses available
Prospectuses for DNACA’s 10th annual “Celebrating the Creative Arts of Older Americans” at the Del Norte County Fair are currently available.
This juried art exhibit is open to all Northern California and Southern Oregon artists age 60 and older, and will hang in the floral building during the fair Aug. 6-9. Cash prizes and ribbons will be given.

Music at Pistol River July 11
The Pistol River Concert Association presents 3 Leg Torso, playing a classically tinged combination of gypsy folk and whirling tangos, at 8 p.m. July 11 in the Pistol River Concert Hall.
The group started in 1996 as a violin, cello and accordion trio, with the humble goals of creating a passionate new sound, and having fun as while doing it.

‘Wet on Wet’ workshop returns
Gasquet artist Rick Bennett will be offering his popular “Wet on Wet” watercolor workshop July 13-15 at the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus in Brookings.

Fusion Dance Camp for Youth
A Fusion Dance Camp for Youth will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 13-17 at Muse Theatrix, 1240 Chetco Ave. in Brookings.
Students will learn a jazz fusion dance and a lyrical dance that will be performed July 17. Instructors include Debbie Weist, Koreen and Hayley McElle. Students will be divided into two age groups of 8-12 years and 13-18 years.

This year, submissions to Crescent Harbor Gallery's National Juried Art Competition are to be made on CD.
Artists wishing to enter this prestigious show must turn in their paperwork and CD by Wednesday, July 15.
