Letters: Offshore fishing in California closed early this year

September 28, 2007 11:00 pm

Well California, the Department of Fish and Game, has decided to close offshore fishing three months early (Oct. 1).

The reason they state in their newsletter is overfishing of a species that is illegal to take. Now all Northern California fishermen must pay by being denied offshore fishing. Since the D.F.G. does not open offshore until May 1, that is a seven-month closure!

This closure not only affects fishermen, but the surrounding bussinesses and ports, as well.

So, California, many of us will be buying an Oregon license and spending our money there. California can kiss my fish.
